Sunday morning post Scottish Election blogging. What a day Friday 6th of May was. The SNP swept the boards in Scotland and gained a 69 seat win and now have the majority of seats in our parliament. The next few years will be interesting indeed!
Last night we had a huge thunder storm here in South West Scotland. Lightening flashed for a few hrs and the rain fell so hard it was stoating of the ground. Everything looks so green and fresh this morning and we have only had a few showers this morning so far.
Made some butterscotch ganache yesterday for one of our test cheesecakes, its delicious! The cheesecake in question will be our Butterscotch Bonanza. Its one of 4 new cheesecakes which are now well underway with testing being carried out over the coming weeks and the finished product including photographs being ready to launch early June ( thats the plan - hope you can fit the photography work into your very busy schedule Mr Muir) We are also working on 2 new cakes one of which is code named the OGM cake. Oh.....my..goodness ! The other is The Peak. All will be revelaed over the course of the coming weeks.
May is off to a flying start at the Dessert Depot. The first week brought fresh inquiries from potential customers plus some new customers placed their first orders. The total number of new customers so far this year in the 4 months up to the end of April is 50. Each new customer now receives a gift and a thank you card which we had pre- printed a few mnths ago. Our existing, loyal and longstanding customers will all be receiving a loyalty gift over the coming months.
Training: as well as each employee completing their hygeine refresher training in April, we had two of our employees who had one day training in supervisory skills. Sean and Neil were originally scheduled to attend the course in Glasgow but due to lack of candidates it was called off, however the training went ahead on our premises in Ayr and the trainer spent all day on Tuesday 3rd May on site ( my office was used as the training room and I worked from my home office that day ) the fee back from both guys was very very positive and both are looking forward to using the valuable tools they have gained from the training.
Newsletter: its been 2 months since we last send out a newsletter, we will be sending one out to coincide with the new products release. Early to mid June.
We are off to the Scottish Bakers Conference in Peebles next weekend. Should be a good weekend with lots going on. Nick Nairn is among the line up of guest speakers.
Signing off the sunday morning blog on 8th May...
